Some Thoughts On Why We Still Give

Phi Psi graciously thanks all of the Brothers who have given to our Annual Fund in the past, as well as this year. As a reminder, the Annual Fund runs from September 1 through August 31 each year, and supports the cost of alumni communications and events, house renovations, and Chapter resources on a yearly basis. There is still time to give so please, consider even a small gift as a way to show your support.

Have you ever asked yourself why you give? Is it part of your charitable routine? Do you believe in affording the next generation of young men the same experience you had with Phi Psi? Whatever the case, we again, thank you. Here are some reasons we collected from past surveys of other Sigma Chi members from various Chapters around the country about why they have and continue to give back to our organization:

"I valued and still value my Sigma Chi experiences as an undergraduate and I particularly appreciate the work of our Alumni Brothers who give of their time and talent on our Corporation in continued support of our undergraduates. As geographic realities preclude my direct engagement in their good work, by contributing I get to do my small part to support them and show appreciation of their efforts."

"Monetary contributions to Sigma Chi across America help sustain the individual chapters which in turn provide learning and growing experiences unavailable anywhere else on campus. Brothers who came before me made it possible for my generation to become Sigma Chis. The friendships I made and support I received at the Sig house were immeasurable. After 51 years, those friendships are still important to my life. I contribute in appreciation for what they did for me."

"If it were not for Sigma Chi, I doubt I would have stayed four years at Penn. At a huge urban university, a self-governing residential community can be essential toward learning life skills of friendship, leadership, hard work and self-reliance. I know it was for me. The Phi Phi Chapter helped me deal with the challenges of undergraduate life at one of the nation's most demanding universities. I give to the University because of the academic education I got from Penn. I give to Sigma Chi because of what I learned about how to get along with others."

"Phi Phi was my home at Penn. How can you not support your home? I support it now as part of a small familiar island within a grander redeveloped university that is hardly recognizable by someone who left 46 years ago. I hope all who followed me have found that same sense of being part of a unique experience in your life. One that made Penn a better place to be. My money goes to that which has meant the most to me; Phi Phi and 3809 Locust."
